The Tigers (23-8, 13-5 AAC) are seeded second in the 2023 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship and will take the court at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, Friday at 6 p.m. The Houston, Texas native was named the AAC Player of the Week three times and landed on the Honor Roll four times. He had reached double digits in 26-straight games prior to Sunday's eight-point outing. Williams started all 31 games and recorded double figures in 28 of them, including eight with 20-plus points. He has six games with three or more steals, nine games with at least five assists and his eight double-doubles are third most in the AAC. The fifth-year forward is also shooting 53.4 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from three-point range and 73.5 percent from the charity stripe. He is the only player in the conference to rank inside the top 10 in both categories. He is the top rebounder on the Tigers at 7.6 per game (4 th AAC) and ranks second in scoring behind a 17.0-point clip (6 th AAC). Williams is on the all-conference first team at the end of the year after being picked to the squad in the preseason. The honor comes just one day after he was named a third team All-American by Sporting News. He has also scored double figures 29 times this season, topping the 20-point mark on 20 occasions. On the season, Davis has recorded three double-doubles and been named the AAC Player of the Week a league record six times. He also ranks third in the nation in free throws made (199) and 23 rd in steals per game (2.13). Those totals rank 10 th and 17 th in the country, respectively, putting him as the only player in Division I to rank inside the top 20 of both categories.
